Thanksgiving 07 December 2008

Bible and Cross.jpg

The annual Thanksgiving Service will be held on the 07th of December 2008 at the Church venue in Unisa. All Christians from Tshwane Central are reminded to prepare themselves for this occasion in order to make appropriate contributions in line with the guidelines provided by the Phelindaba Parish. This event has been announced during the past Sunday Church services. The main purpose for Thanksgiving Service is to give thanks to the Almighty God by making contributions as token of appreciation for what has been done for us during the year by God. A lot of people have been blessed during the year and this is a once a year opportunity to reflect and say thank you.

While people are blessed, there are others who did not have the same blessings. Come to think about the victims of Xenophobic attacks, victims of floods, victims of riots related to municipal boundaries, victims of alcohol and drug abuse, victims of diseases, victims of accidents, victims of terrorists attacks, victims of political instability (Zimbabwe, Kenya, Georgia, etc.), victims of crime, victims of domestic violence and victims of economic recession, just to mention a few.

The Apostles' Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the dead, and the life everlasting.

Amen.

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be your name,
Your kingdom come,
Your will be done, on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
As we forgive our own debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom,
The power, and the glory are yours, forever.

Amen

The Greatest Commandment

"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind"

This is the great and foremost commandment, and there is a second like it

"You shall love your neighbour as yourself"

The whole Law and Prophets hang on these two commands

Mathew 22:37-40 & Mark 12:28-34
